This casting represents the standard McKenzie & Holland signal post finial. Dimensions are approximately 15½mm high x 3½mm wide.
The finial was usually found on top of a wooden (sometimes lattice) post or doll, and is most familiar from its use on the North Eastern Railway. The Taff Vale, Rhymney, North Staffordshire, Great Eastern, and Highland railways also used it, as did a number of Colonial railways. However, NE modellers will find SC003/2 more useful for slotted post signals, as this item has cast-in recesses for the slot plates.
