Description
The 4ft wooden signal arm used in this kit was introduced by the GWR in 1887, and was used for new installations and renewals until the advent of steel arms in 1930. Signals above 26ft used a 5ft arm.
The signal is now thought to be extinct on Network Rail as the GWR and BR(WR) modernised many by replacing the wooden arm with the steel pattern, and eventually by replacing the whole signal with the tubular steel post type.
