Description
Nickel plated steel pins for assembling crossheads/connecting rods and valve gear. Sufficient for two locomotives with Walschaerts valve gear. The pins are 0.70mm diameter (head 1.5mm) x around 10mm long (the points have been removed for postal safety).
To assemble valve gear, thread the pin through the front of first component, a paper “washer” and the second component and solder the pin to the rear of the second component. Remove the washer after soldering and cut the pin to length. To fix a connecting rod to the LS8 double slide bar crosshead, thread the pin through the rear of the rod, a paper washer, the rear of the crosshead, and solder the pin to the front of the crosshead (with the drop link on top if required). It would look better if the pin head was on the front, but then you would have to solder at the rear of the crosshead where it’s more difficult to get the iron in.
