Description
As used on Clayton 4 and 6-wheeled stock. To assemble, fix the bodies to the headstock before priming and painting the carriage. The buffer heads and shanks are best chemically blackened rather than painted. Push the buffer shanks right through the bodies so that the groove is visible at the rear – you may need to run a drill through first to remove any paint. Clip the slots on the spring plate into the grooves. The plate should be held in place by passing the screw coupling shank through the slot in the plate (put a coil spring on the shank first) and retaining it with a split pin. The pin and coil spring are usually supplied with the screw couplings.
