Description
The original diagram, D1720, was a Period II beaded design with steel ends built in 1930, but a major external rebuild gave these coaches a Stanier Period III flush-sided appearance, albeit with 4’6″ wide windows in the first class compartments. Although not a particularly numerous type, they were general service coaches seen all over the LMS and BR(LMR).
